How can resilient and textile floor coverings be installed on weak substrates?

Especially in old buildings it is often the case that subfloors are very weak, sandy and in a bad condition in general. Nevertheless the new floor covering has to be installed as fast as possible as time is also an issue in renovation work.

No problem for Renoplan System Asia 2. With the single component PU primer UZIN PE 414 Turbo, the super fast dispersion primer UZIN PE 280 and the fibre reinforced self levelling compound UZIN NC 155 a fast and reliable system especially for these kind of problems is guaranteed.

Step 1: Remove the existing floor covering first. Sand/brush subfloor to remove flooring remnants and weakly bonded adhesive residues. Thoroughly clean area with a strong industrial vacuum cleaner.

Step 2: Before using UZIN PE 414 Turbo shake well the container and pour the content into a clean bucket. Apply a full even coat of UZIN PE 414 BiTurbo using the UZIN Nylon Fibre Roller to strengthen the subfloor that is not adequately sound or sanded. Avoid any pooling as otherwise the material will not cure or the cure will be extremely retarded.

Step 3: Apply the super fast primer UZIN PE 280 onto the fully dried coat of UZIN PE 414 BiTurbo to create a rough surface. Apply the primer with a short-nap lamb skin roller or alternatively with a UZIN nylon fibre roller uniformly, thin and over the whole substrate. Because of the quick drying of UZIN PE 280, the surface can be levelled already after approx. 45 minutes.

Step 4: Mix the fibre reinforced levelling compound UZIN NC 155 with clear cold water. Use a powerful electric handheld mixer for mixing, e. g. the WOLFF agitator Power X 1300.

Step 5: Apply the fibre reinforced levelling compound UZIN NC 155 directly onto the surface (at least 3mm). The raking method can be used as an alternative to levelling. The screed rake from the UZIN product offering is recommended for this purpose.

Step 6: Now use the UZIN spike roller, adjusted to the thickness of the levelling compound, for aeration.

Step 7: Apply either the dispersion adhesives UZIN KE 2000 S or FA 330 using a suitable notched trowel.

Step 8: Install the resilient floor covering and roll down once over the whole surface, e. g. using the WOLFF pressure roller.
